As the attic insulation had become soiled by rodent urine, we removed all the insulation in place. However, the bagged insulation was removed through the roof to avoid any risk to the family living in this Saint-Bruno property. We then applied a biocide to eliminate all unwanted odors and traces in the attic. The vermin had damaged the vapour barrier in several places, so we were able to make the necessary repairs and ensure that the vapour barrier was sealed again. We then installed rafters to optimize attic and roof ventilation, and insulated the wall top plate with urethane to reinforce the insulation at the bottom of the slope. These areas are more difficult to optimize, since there’s not enough space in terms of height to ensure a good level of insulation. We completed the job by adding cellulose to the attic, which acts as a vermin repellent, since vermin don’t tolerate contact with their skin.
